I write character-driven dramas set in the industrial midwest, stories about dysfunctional families, communities in peril, and the rituals and systems that shape us. I'm drawn to haunted places, buried histories, and people fighting for survival, as the world violently changes around them.
Stories from the Heart-lands
I was born in Western PA, and grew up in Northwest Indiana, I've worked in carpentry shops, steel mills, and refineries. I played football and wrestled at Wabash College. I've been a public school teacher, and a high school football and wrestling coach. I've tended bar in local taverns, dives, and nightclubs. From these places I've collected stories of the folk. The aspirations, tragedies, and hard faught victories of working people.
The mono culture of american small towns build their myths and enforce their codes. My stories live in that territory alongside the bigger forces shaping the heartland today: land grabs and erasure, politics, faith, superstition, and folklore. The machines are both literal and metaphorical: mills, data centers, AI systems, political apparati, the machinery of progress.
I write characters who define themselves by labor, loyalty, and stubborn integrity, placed inside communities on the edge, families fractured by secrets and generational expectation, and ruptured institutions. I write from lived experience. Whether it's a football coach confronting the mythology he built to survive, teenage girls demanding space on a mat, or a martial arts grandmaster building an counter culture empire, the game is the same, common folks forced to become extrordinary people by fate, who refuse to give up The Dream.
