My work is about tool use: what happens when a person picks up a machine?

I was born into a steelworking family in Aliquippa, PA. and later grew up in the Calumet Region, a vast Industrial wasteland on the southern rim of the great Lake Michigan. Many claim to know of a place they've ony seen from the safety of the interstate at 80 mph, it's not quite Chicago & most certainly not Indiana. It was here that I watched My father's work in industry disappear. When markets matured globally and technology changed, working families lost their idtenity along with thier daily bread.

Pubic Schools leaders shifted funding from vocational tech programs in carpentry and weldingto purchase more apples and ran 3D scanning at steel mills for US Steel, Cleveland Cliffs, and Steel Dynamics. I managed construction in New York for Radio City Music Hall and the Atlantic Theater Company. I trained as an actor at the Atlantic, Second City, and the Actors Studio. At Wabash I wrestled and played football while studying art and technical theater, which is where my own identity cleaved into athlete and artist.
